Smoking in Public Areas

Smoking is prohibited by law in the common areas inside our buildings. These areas include lobbies, elevators, hallways, stairways, laundry rooms, and basements. Please be considerate of your neighbors — don’t smoke in public areas!

Posted by Bob Hope, 9 Jan 2003 at 11:46 AM: non smokers have rights, smokers should have the same rights, we can say what we want to otheres wether it is detremental to them or not but we cant smoke because they dont like it? besides im sure the amount of second hand smoke they come into contact with especially OUTSIDE on the street is extremly small. It could be just as bad to inhale all the gas emissions coming from the car that the non smoker drives than the small smoke that a smoker has in his hand. If you dont like the smell of it of what it can do to you then if you see someone smoking, keep you distance dont make everything harder for us just so you can enjoy yet another small convenience you lready kicked us out of most buildings.

Posted by amy, 24 Feb 2003 at 9:52 AM: i am a non-smoking, healthy, 17 year old girl who wants to live life to the fullest. why should i sit in a resturant and take the abuse of the smokers. i want to enjoy my breakfast, lunch, or dinner, instead of eating the food and it tasting like an ashtray. those of you that smoke don’t realize what you do to others. by the way 2nd hand smoke kills. i hope you don’t have kids to share your short life with. thanks

Posted by niqui, 3 Apr 2003 at 12:21 PM: this is to the last person who signed this: yes, you are right that it can be just as harmful to inhale gas emissions from a car, but YOU CAN’T help that! you CAN help smoking in public areas! its a horrible habbit and it can really harm you and the people around you. but if you insist on smoking just save the cancer sticks for you and only yourselv- not the innocent people who have to suffer from your bad actions!

Posted by renee, 8 May 2003 at 11:47 AM: If you really don’t want to be around the smoke you can always ask for non-smoking section why should we be punished for your needs

Posted by fred fddfd, 19 May 2003 at 7:58 PM: fred says people should not be able to smoke at all

Posted by wina, 21 May 2003 at 12:31 AM: smoking can cause any diseases both for smokers and second hand smokers. Therefore no smoking in public areas

Posted by Ashley, 2 Jul 2003 at 8:34 PM: hey renee - why should a non-smoker be punished for your needs??(addicitons)

Posted by bob, 14 Sep 2003 at 3:34 PM: too bad nobody should be able to smoke because there is absolutely NOTHING good about it so…. why do it? thats about all i have to say so BYE!

Posted by cindy, 14 Sep 2003 at 3:36 PM: SMOKING IS STUPID! its about the dumbest thing ever invented!

Posted by your admirer, 14 Sep 2003 at 3:38 PM: Hey Fred and Bob and wina and cindy and everyone else!

Posted by ASH, 17 Oct 2003 at 6:02 PM: this is really hORRIBLE THAT YOU CANT GO CHILL IN A BAR AND SMOKE A CIG. THATS WHAT THEY ARE FOR.

Posted by Queenie, 10 Nov 2003 at 9:51 AM: I think it’s awesome, i want to be able to go out and have fun without smelling like an ash tray…..

Posted by Vivian, 10 Dec 2003 at 7:49 PM: I’m a healthy active teen that enjoys breathing clearly when I can. My mom used to smoke which makes me the second hand smoker… it’s not fun trying to participate in sports when ur weezing and having attacks all the time due to this second hand smoking….so b4 u write any other stupid remarks think about what is in that ciggarette and who’s around you….ur not putting just your own life at risk

Posted by Shecola, 18 Feb 2004 at 5:40 PM: I agree with the decision. I am a healthy person who can’t stand smoking in public area’s. Sitting and ENJOYING a meal at a restaurant with your love one, is really hard to do when you have someone in the booth next to you puffing a cigarette, or when you smell cigarette smoke in the atmosphere. It’s just wrong!

Posted by Tolley, 14 Apr 2004 at 10:45 AM: I feel Smoking is Bad and i don’t feel people should have to smell smoke when they are not a smoker its annoying

Posted by beth, 4 May 2004 at 1:19 PM: you dont have to worrie about smelling smoke while you are eating anymore because they dont smoke there anymore. but i think we shouldn’t ban then from everywhere like in the park and what-not. but inside i think they shouldn’t smoke because 2 hand smoke is bad but also it could make trouble…like a fire. but guys we shouldn’t be getting mad at each other for saying what we think and believe. so insted of being mean just state what you have to say and leave.

Posted by julia, 4 May 2004 at 1:27 PM: if smoking weed is against the law why isn’t smoking cigs?

Posted by nicole, 5 May 2004 at 7:34 PM: I agree with ashley, renee you aren’t being punished for our needs, we’re getting away from YOUR bad habbits. and didn’t you know that the non-smoking section is just as bad as the regular one? its just farther away so it just takes a little longer for the smoke to get to us.. its still just as powerful..

Posted by EVELYN, 6 May 2004 at 9:44 AM: I DO NOT THINK THAT SMOKING SHOULD BE ALLOWED IN PUBLIC AREAS BECAUSE IT IS HARMFUL TO THE SMOKERS, AS WELL AS NONSMOKERS HEALTH. I DON’T LIKE GOING TO RESTURAUNTS AND EATING WHILE PEOPLE BLOW SMOKE AROUND EVEYWHERE. ESPECIALLY IF THERE ARE BABIES IN THERE. PEOPLE SHOULD CONSIDER THE LIVES, BESIDES THEIR OWN, THAT THEY ARE HARMING.

Posted by Sam Harris, 13 Jun 2004 at 7:48 AM: Smoking is one of the worst things someone could do to their body. I think that people should stop selling it. They would die and not become an angel, but they will become a devil .

Posted by Anon, 16 Jun 2004 at 10:05 AM: My parents smoke. How can I make them stop?…
