Welcome to Our Neighborhood

Our co-op is located in Northern Manhattan in an area historically known as Fort George, at the border between Washington Heights and Inwood. Sometimes we’re considered part of one and sometimes part of the other neighborhood, depending on who writes about us.

Our neighborhood is a wonderful mix of peoples of many ethnicities, cultures, sexual orientations, ages. It is a family-oriented neighborhood that welcomes everyone. In recent years, it has been attracting more and more people trying to escape the ridiculous rents of other Manhattan neighborhoods. We’re a magnet for artists, writers, nature lovers, and many others seeking an alternative to the craziness downtown, while at the same time remaining in Manhattan.

We’re within steps of beautiful Fort Tryon Park and the Cloisters and within walking distance of Inwood Hill Park, which has the only remaining natural forest in Manhattan. If you’re a parks freak, like I am, you’ll appreciate the fact that the Washington Heights/Inwood area has over 620 acres worth of parks! Compare that to the measly 14 acres available in the Chelsea/Clinton area.

Come visit our neighborhood and discover what makes it one of the best neighborhoods in New York! For more information, check out our Neighborhood Resource Directory.
